CrewRadar Privacy Policy

Application: CrewRadar  ·  Developer: CrewRadar LLC
Last updated: 16 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CrewRadar LLC ("CrewRadar", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, keeps, and deletes information when you use the CrewRadar mobile app (the "App"). CrewRadar is a private network for adult airline crew: pilots, flight attendants, and aviation mechanics. The App is only for people aged 18 and over.

Summary. We collect the profile details you give us and your messages and connections. If you turn on Location Sharing, we also collect your approximate location while the App is open. We use this data only to run CrewRadar. We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising. You can delete your account and data at any time, in the App or at crewradar.app/delete-account.

1. Information we collect

Account informationYour email address and password. We store the password only as a secure hash.
Profile informationFull name, crew role, airline, badge or employee number, home base airport, an optional bio, an optional profile photo, and your availability status. Other users never see your email or badge number.
Location (optional)If you turn on Location Sharing, the App collects your device location only while the App is open, never in the background. We store your coordinates rounded to about 1 km, never your exact position. Only crew you have accepted as friends can see where you are, and they see only your nearest airport or a broad area of roughly 10 km, never your exact position. Your location is also hidden automatically whenever you are near your saved home address. You can turn Location Sharing off at any time in Profile › Settings. Turning it off deletes your stored location.
Home address (optional)If you add a home address, we store the address and its map coordinates so CrewRadar can automatically hide your location whenever you are near home. Your home address is private: it is never shown to other users. To convert the address into coordinates, we send it to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service.
FAA certificate number (optional)If you enter an FAA certificate number, we store it privately; it is never shown to other users. When verification is available, we send your last name and certificate number to the FAA's public Airmen Inquiry service, and we store only whether the check succeeded and when it ran.
Subscriptions (iOS)If you buy CrewRadar Premium on iPhone, Apple processes the payment. We never receive your card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, gives us your subscription status (plan, expiry date, and whether it will renew), linked to your account ID.
PhotosOnly the photo you pick as your profile picture, either chosen through your device's photo picker or taken with your camera if you choose to. We don't access the rest of your photo library.
Messages and connectionsDirect messages you send and receive, friend requests and connections, users you block, and reports you submit.
NotificationsIf you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device.
Technical dataIP address, device type, operating system version, App version, and the server logs we need to secure and run the service.

We do not collect your contacts, calendar, microphone, or health information, and we never receive your payment card details. The App has no ads and no advertising or analytics tools.

2. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account, and to let you sign in and reset your password.
  • To show your profile to other crew, and to let you find, connect with, and message them.
  • To show your nearest airport to your accepted friends when Location Sharing is on, and to hide your location automatically near your saved home address.
  • To verify an FAA certificate when you ask us to, and to manage Premium subscriptions on iPhone.
  • To send you notifications about friend requests and new messages.
  • To keep the community safe: we review reports, enforce our Terms of Service and Child Safety Standards, and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

3. How information is shared

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share information only in these cases:

  • With other users, as described above:
    • Signed-in crew can see your public profile: name, role, airline, home base, photo, bio, and status.
    • Only accepted friends can see your airport location and your messages.
    • Users you block can't see your profile, location, or messages.
  • With service providers that handle data for us and must keep it confidential:
    • Vibecode: hosts the App's servers and database, and stores profile photos.
    • Resend: sends account emails, such as password resets, and delivers user reports to our safety team.
    • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: converts a home address you enter into map coordinates.
    • U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airmen Inquiry: receives your last name and certificate number when you ask us to verify an FAA certificate.
    • RevenueCat and Apple: handle Premium subscriptions on iPhone.
    • Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: deliver push notifications.
    • OpenStreetMap Foundation and CARTO: provide map images. They receive your IP address when the map loads, but none of your account data.
    • unpkg and jsDelivr: deliver the open-source map library. They receive your IP address.
  • For safety and legal reasons: when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect anyone's safety. We report confirmed child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition. This Policy continues to apply to your information.

4. How long we keep data

  • Account, profile, connections, and messages: kept while your account is active, and deleted when you delete your account.
  • Location: replaced each time it updates, and deleted right away when you turn off Location Sharing or delete your account.
  • Home address: kept until you remove it in the App or delete your account.
  • Subscription records: Apple and RevenueCat may keep purchase records as their own policies and tax laws require.
  • Password reset links: expire within 1 hour, and are deleted once used or when you delete your account.
  • Reports and safety records: records of rule violations may be kept for up to 2 years after a report is resolved, to prevent repeat abuse, or longer if the law requires it.
  • Server logs: kept for up to 90 days.
  • Backups: deleted data is removed from backups within 30 days.

5. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and its data at any time:

  • In the App: open Profile, scroll to Account, and tap Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
  • Without the App: go to crewradar.app/delete-account, or email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my CrewRadar account". Send it from the email address on your account. We'll confirm the request is yours and delete your account within 30 days, usually within 7.

Deleting your account removes your profile, photo, location, home address, FAA certificate details, friend connections, the messages you sent and received, your notifications, your blocks, and your push tokens. Safety records may be kept for the time given in Section 4.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile at any time in Profile › Edit Profile.
  • Turn off Location Sharing in Profile › Settings, or remove location permission in your device settings.
  • Turn off notifications in your device settings.
  • Block or report any user from their profile or from a conversation.
  • Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, the UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your data, or to object to some kinds of processing. To make a request, email [email protected]. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.

7. Security

All data sent between the App and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Only authorized staff can access production data. No way of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

CrewRadar is only for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it. See our Child Safety Standards.

9. International users

CrewRadar is run from the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.

10. Changes to this Policy

We'll post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the App or by email.
